Returning to work...

So this past Friday I returned to the world of working adults. While I love my job, I do not enjoy being away from my Parker man at all. Leaving the house on Friday was difficult. But with tears in my eyes I got in my car and headed to the lovely Egleston. Luckily, I was working with some fabulous people otherwise it would have been a rough night. Jake said the night went well and I am thankful for that. It is now coming to the end of my work week and I can't wait to get home to snuggle with my little guy. I am sure as time goes by going to work will be much easier. Stay tuned for more from my mommy world.

This is a photo of the little guy after a bath while I was away.

Almost 8 weeks...

What's been going on in Parker's life over the past two weeks? He is growing a ton it seems. Next week is his 2 month check up so we will see how much he weighs then. As well all those dreaded 2 month immunizations. Thankfully Jake is going to that appointment with me.

This weekend will be Parker's first big party. Our annual fourth of July party is this weekend. Parker has a sun hat and bathing suit. But he will have lots of sunscreen on and be in the shade the whole time. I am hoping Jake's friends will help with him since my mother in law and good friend will both be out of town.

The cloth diapering is going great. We have had a couple of leaks. But they were massive poops and a disposable diaper wouldn't have held up to the poop either! The laundry isn't bad either. I love them and much better then disposables I think. I also ordered a few really cute ones from etsy. The "brand" is smush tush and they are adorable.

Parker is a mover especially with his feet. So we got him this mat with a piano at the feet and he kicks that all the time. Parker hates his few minutes of tummy time but he gets a little every day and once he hits two months it will increase.

So posted for how the weekend goes. Hopefully well!

Cloth Diapers

So we started with the cloth diapers last week and so far so good. The laundry for them hasn't been to over whelming and isn't really difficult to do. I was able to take Parker out and use the disposable inserts and that worked great. The only thing I had to go get was a drying rack so we could air dry the diapers and not wear down the elastic in them. I do not regret going with them and am excited to see him grow with them. There are a few more diapers I would like and will look into getting some more colors.

Here is the link to the brand we went with and love! www.charliebanana.com

The next adventure I am going to research is making my own baby food. I think that will be great for him and something fun to do!

Newborn Pictures

On Memorial Day we had Parker's newborn photos taken. And when you see the pictures you wouldn't know it but he was a grump and not really cooperative. But we got some great shots. Heidi, with Our Labor of Love, did an amazing job as always. Her work is stunning. The main thing Parker hated was the dinosaur hat. Jake thinks because it was scratchy but there is no telling. Overall I am really pleased and will probably do 3, 6, 9, and 12 month photos with Heidi. But that is still in the works.

I will leave you with some of my favorite shots.

Date night

This weekend Parker met Jake's cousin Stefani, all the way in from New York. We spent the day at the Lalla house and Parker loved it cause he was held the whole time. Saturday was another iffy night he had a block where he cried for a while and then finally went to bed and gave us some sleep. Yay.

Sunday... Jake and I went out for sushi and frozen yogurt just the two of us. It was a nice date night. But I will say it was good to come home and see the little guy. We enjoyed the time just the two of us. Tomorrow Jake goes back to work and let's hope I can do this mom thing all by myself. We will see how it goes. Luckily, my sister, Laura, is staying a couple of days to be an extra set of hands.

More to come later this week... Topics include newborn photos, how I did without Jake's help, and the redo hearing screen. In the meantime some photos.

3 weeks tomorrow!

So we have made it another week at home. With a few ups and downs. Such as Wednesday night Jake got no sleep because at 3am Parker decided to scream all night between feeds until 8am when he finally slept. How did we handle that. I stayed with crying Parker until 6am and then I tagged Jake. But Jake didn't actually get sleep that night cause he could still hear Parker. So Thursday night Jake went to sleep at 8pm and Parker and I slept in the family room to give Jake some much needed sleep. Over all that was the only mishap of the week. Parker is having many more awake times and we love it. Getting awesome photos and getting to love on him while he is awake is great.

Jake goes back to work next week and it will just be me and the little guy. Yikes. But after he hits one month we have a few outings planned and that will be fun for the little guy. We might even visit dad at work. Jake will love that. My mom offered to let Laura stay with us a few days and that will be fun for her and give me an extra set of hands. As well on Monday we have to go repeat Parker's hearing screen. He failed in his right ear and apparently it is really common for babies to fail in one or both ears. Like 40% chance they fail. And it's usually due to fluid left over from the delivery or other various factors. But we are being positive and hope it will be fine since he passed in the left ear.

This weekend we have lots of fun activities planned. First, we are going to Cartersville to see Jake's cousin who is in town from Syracuse. And on Sunday Jake and I are going on a date and my mother is babysitting. We are getting sushi which I am pumped about. And I know my mom is excited to watch him.

Just an FYI I typed this post on my new iPad so I hope it isn't terrible. But here are a few parting pictures.

Outings!

This was a big weekend for Mr. Parker. We had two outings that weren't to the pediatrician's office. First, on Friday a few of Jake's friends and coworkers brought us lunch from Williamson Brother's BBQ. It was amazingly good and nice to have some company. Now onto the outings. Saturday night Jake and I took Parker over to Greg and Heather's new place. Greg is a friend of Jake's and recently moved into a new house that we hadn't seen yet. So, Greg had a small get-together to show off the new pad and to watch the UFC fight. Parker did great. Granted getting out of the house and making sure we have everything is a task. Because we had to take Parker's bouncy seat in order to have somewhere to place him when he falls asleep. If it weren't for that, the diaper bag is always packed and ready to go. Parker also experienced his first UFC fight, it was also a first for his mother. We didn't really watch the fight, because I didn't want his little eyes to take that in...even though I know he can't see or tell what is going on. The next outing for the weekend was to Jake's parents house. This time all we needed was the diaper bag, because they have a pack n play for him to sleep in. But instead of needed the bouncy seat we needed to bring the dog. So both Skipper and Parker were in the back seat...that was fun. Skipper behaved it was just an adventure. Parker did good at the grandparents house and I know they were excited to see him. We are going back next Saturday to see Jake's cousin Stefanie who is in town from New York. Those were the fun outings for the weekend. It has been a busy holiday weekend and it isn't over yet. Tomorrow for Memorial Day...Heidi from Our Labor of Love is coming to do Parker's newborn photos and trust me there will be a whole post on those :) As well my family is coming over for a visit to help grill out for the holiday! Until next time hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day!
